My Creative Space – Still Stitching

It is Thursday and in my blogging world that means My Creative Space – a great blogging initiative initiated by Kirsty from Kootoyoo. Creative people from all over the world show their working space, projects they are currently working on and unfinished projects. I find it very inspiring and the photos that show the work spaces are truly stunning.

There is a finished project on my crafting table today. What an unusual sight! As you can see I am still stitching. Embroidery really has kept me going. After the snowflakes which I will show you soon, I did some photo album covers for the guests of my little one’s christening. Since it will also be the celebration of her first birthday, I thought it would be nice to give all our nearest and dearest a little photo album with pictures of her in her first year. The only problem was that I didn’t like the covers of the little photo albums you could buy. I was looking for something special which didn’t cost the world. And of course I ended up doing them myself ;-)

Sewn of blue jeans fabric...

... embroidered with different variations of my little one’s name and initials...

... in different colours and stitching techniques.

As so often, however, I more “ate more than I can chew”. I could have never finished them in time without my mum’s help. What a blessing to have a mum who is as obsessed with crafting as me and even more talented. Thanks, Mama!!!

My Creative Space - Stitching

It is Thursday and in my blogging world that means My Creative Space – a great blogging initiative initiated by Kirsty from Kootoyoo. Creative people from all over the world show their working space, projects they are currently working on and unfinished projects. I find it very inspiring and the photos that show the work spaces are truly stunning.

This is how my creative space looks today. Jeans fabric, colourful yarn and an embroidery hoop – all ready for doing some stitching.

My little one finally seems to be on a kind of sleeping routine during the day! Hurray!!! That means finally more time for crafting. Double hurray!

Looking forward to seeing what is in your creative space today!

My creative space meets Me Made February –Bavarian

Part of my Me Made Challenge which was initiated by Catherine is that I make at least one new fashion item (clothing or accessories) for me every week in February.

Therefore my creative space, where creative people from all over the world show what they are currently working on (see at Kootoyoo) is covered in the pieces I need for my second brand new me made item:

I inherited this set of cufflinks from my Bavarian grandmother. One piece of the cufflink was missing, however, and since I never ever wear blouses or shirts with cufflinks, I decided to make something that I would really treasure and wear.

Have a look at this delicate and colourful embroidery – this needs to be treasured every day and not disappear on the bottom of a jewellery box!

And once the glue is dried, I am going to wear my brand new me made earrings straight away. See here what the other talented crafters wore and made today.

My creative space...

Another fun blog initiative. Every Thursday bloggers from Australia and all over the world show you their creative space and what they are currently working on. Join the fun at Kootoyoo . So inspiring to start a new project or finish the UFO (UnFinished Project) that has been lying about forever!

... is full of wool leftovers, finished woollen strings and unfinished pieces in my “Strickliesl”. Yes, as you can see I am still obsessed with my knitting doll after I discovered how manifold it is and what cool things you can do with the strings.

It is the perfect craft project for young mums by the way. Whenever you get 5 spare minutes, or 4, or even just 2, grab your “Strickliesl” and off you go. And by the end of the day you will be amazed how much you crafted. Despite looking after a little one all day long. Very satisfying!!

This is my creative space today.

First hints: TODAY

Yes – I needed to reactivate my geometry knowledge

No – this project has nothing to do with star constellations.

Full project and tutorial: MONDAY

I cannot wait to see what you are all up to. Happy creativity!

At the moment I am crafting up a storm. Maybe because I am afraid I won’t have much time for crafting once the little one is here. Maybe because my creative energy goes off, while my physical energy goes down. Anyway, that is my creative space today...

I am working on simple and clever and very yellow dummy bands. You’ll find the post with a detailed tutorial here next Monday.

Looking forward to seeing your creative spaces.

As my due date is getting closer and closer, my creative space is taken over by baby projects. Today I worked on a changing pad for my improvised nappy bag.

It is a lovely project. Quick, easy, cute, practical, beautiful... very rewarding. Just the kind of simple & clever idea which I love so much.

I am going to prepare a little tutorial for you guys, which I will post next Monday. So watch this space. ;-)

But first I go peeking at your creative spaces for inspiring ideas.

Happy Thursday!

Since my obstetrician told me yesterday that she thinks that my little girl might be born as soon as next week (and not in 3 to 4 weeks as I expected), I was a bit in panic that my baby quilt might not be finished on time.

Therefore I spent the evening stitching Australian animals while watching “Masterchef" and “Who do you think you are?”. Very relaxing and productive at the same time. Another two or three stitching sessions and I will be done. And then I will show you the whole thing.

Happy Thursday!

How exciting! My first time at ‘my creative space’. I have been peeking at your amazing projects and wonderful crafty rooms for quite a while now. So I thought it is only fair to show you my creative space in exchange. Although it is just our dining table and I have to clear it for each dinner (or serve dinner in front of the TV ;-)) Anyway, I guess that this space and time limitation at least keeps the chaos at bay which I would definitely create if I would be able to leave my craft projects on a table for longer ;-)

At the moment I try to come up with projects for which I can use material that I already have. The bottom of my wardrobe is filled with fabrics and scrap paper and beads and ribbons – and since we are moving back to Germany in just 4 months, I really don’t want to buy more crafting stuff, which I then have to ship over in a container.

My first project will hopefully become a bib necklace one day. I want to keep it simple but sophisticated and use up as much of my big bag of felt leftovers and boxes of beads. I will let you know how I go ;-).

Have a great Thursday and looking forward to seeing your creative spaces!!!
