Are you addicted to Pinterest?

Because I am ;-) What a brilliant source of inspiration! Since I have discovered this website, my to-do-lists exploded. So many things I want to make, I want to cook, I want to decorate, I want to give as a gift...

Of course there are hideous things or stupid tipps (especially the whole weight loss which are actually ads), too, but overall I have to say: I am thrilled!!!
So in case you haven’t discovered it, yet, it is really worth a look: Pinterest
If you want to find out, what my fantastic finds are (which I keep rambling about), you can also click on the little Pinterest button in my right sidebar and it will take you straight to my folders:

At the moment I have 14 boards with topics ranging from Accessories to Yummy (Food). You see, all my favourite topics ;-)
Oh and just before you go, I have to warn you. Pinterest is highly addictive. You will forget to bring your children to bed, you will be late for work or dates, you will stay in your pyjamas all day, you will burn your food in the oven and stay up too long... but it is worthwhile ;-)

What‘s next?

I guess, you cannot believe your eyes. Two new blog posts in a row. Whoa!!! I know it is quite a change from the past months, but I am back. Truly back and I am bursting of creative juices and I have so many things to tell you that I don’t know where to start.

Unfortunately I cannot show you any finished projects at the moment, because I haven’t had time to do any things-I-love-to-do in the past weeks – oh well, I know I am melodramatic, there were a few things but not nearly enough for my liking.
Anyway, but I have great plans:
·     Build a play kitchen for the little one as Christmas present (making the play kitchen will be my Christmas present to myself, I cannot wait to get the compass saw out of the basement)

·     Sew a ton of really cool scarfs for Christmas (I have a very cool pattern for a children scarf which I want to enlarge to make it adult size)

·    Bake a ton of cookies – seriously, I cannot wait to unpack my cookie cutters and this year I want to go beyond the tried-and-tested-and-much-loved  butter cookies.

·     Make wonderful relaxing bath salts and using them ;-)

·      Get my hair cut and coloured (there is a time when plucking your grey hairs isn’t a solution anymore and my time is NOW)

·      Have a lot of mulled wine at Christmas markets (after 4 years abstinence due to our stay in Australia and breastfeeding)

·      Finally sew a shift dress of the wonderful houndstooth fabric that has been lying around forever

But before I start with all of these projects, I try to get well and send my warmest wishes to the fabulous bloggers who meet in Berlin today. I don’t want to spread my germs otherwise I would be with you that is for sure. Have a great, inspiring afternoon! I know you will have anyway ;-)

Preparing for Valentine's Day

The lovely Tiina over at Sparkling Ink has reminded me a couple of days ago that Valentine's Day is around the corner. Actually it is Sunday. THIS Sunday.

I think it is a wonderful thing to dedicate a whole day of celebrations to your love. To show that you care, still care, will always care immensely about him. So why do I always forget about this day until the very last minute?

... maybe because my birthday is the day before and in the week prior I am usually knee-deep in party preparations. And I always have a party ;-)

... maybe because Valentine's Day isn't such a big thing in Germany. Or maybe not yet - there seem to be more and more Valentine's products being launched each year. Most of them are hideous and totally defy the purpose of the day for me. I mean - no offence - but who wants cheap-tasting chocolate in the form of a rosebud? Seriously...

Anyway, Valentine's Day is not about presents for me anyway. It is about spending time with this special someone. Or write heart-warming notes and letters.

That is what I decided to do this year - write a love letter. Because my poor love hasn't received one from me in a long time. And he deserves it more than ever. I think living together, being married and expecting a child together shouldn't be excuses for not writing love letters.

So all I have to do is to pop over to my favourite stationary shop kikki.k and get those...

... and then sit down with a lovely cup of tea and write...

Happy Inspiration!

Crafty Sunday

I had a wonderful productive crafting day today. I started with a short trip to my local Spotlight (craft shop) to finally get me a rotary fabric cutter and a long quilting ruler. I had some really annoying experiences with trying to cut equally sized fabric pieces with scissors and I was just fed up with it. Actually I arrived 5 minutes before the shop opened – Andi says that proves that I am real crafting nerd – but I wasn’t the only one. There were 5 women in front of me ;-)

Anyway back at home the new equipment was put to tests and what can I say – it worked perfectly. Impressive how good tools can make your life so much easier. And the results so much better. Money well worth spent I would say.

Today I started a baby quilt which I want to make for my little one. She will be born in Melbourne, but we are moving back to Germany when she is only a couple of months old. So I don’t think she will remember much of her time in Melbourne. Therefore I wanted to make something for her that will always remind her of being born in Australia. Something with Australian animals, Australian plants and flowers, Australian colours, ...

My inspiration was:

It is my first quilt so although I worked all day, I still haven’t gotten to a stage where I want to show you more of it. I will definitely keep you updated in my progress though.
